Launched in April 2026 as Nike's most capable cross-trainer to date, the Free Metcon 7 is built around a dual-density Nike Free midsole that combines stable foam in the heel for weightlifting with softer, more flexible foam in the forefoot for dynamic movements - the two foams interlocking in a technique inspired by Japanese sashimono woodworking joinery for a more organic, seamless transition between the two zones. A webbed lacing system with an inner sleeve replaces Flywire cables for enhanced midfoot containment that keeps the foot locked in place through burpees, box jumps and barbell work alike. A lightweight breathable mesh upper and a full-length rubber outsole with flex grooves complete a construction tested across multiple athlete prototypes - from casual gym-goers to professionals - before it hit shelves. Arriving in Black with Photon Dust, Anthracite and White, this is a men's Nike training shoe built for those who refuse to choose between cardio and strength.
