Vans Shoes

Created in Anaheim, California, 1966, Vans have been the go to sneaker and brand on the West Coast since way back when. Their legendary deck shoes became a must have for skaters and the Vans Authentic were born. Renowned for their ‘sticky soles’ these sneakers were both stylish and durable with the sneakers being spotted worn all over California. Next came the iconic Vans Old Skool) in 1977, featuring the signature Vans Sidestripe, which incorporated leather panels for increased durability. What started as a random doodle be Co. Founder Paul Van Doren has become the unmistakable hallmark of the Vans brand, which is still donned by sneaker lovers today.

1977 Also saw the introduction of the Vans #98, more commonly known as the Vans Slip On. With the help of skateboarders and BMX riders, the Vans Classic Slip-Ons became the range in Southern California. Today this has become the classic Slip On silhouette, which has remained an icon throughout the generations. The Vans Sk8-Hi was released a year later in 1978, initially known as the “Style 38,” which showcased the now iconic Vans Sidestripe on yet another innovative silhouette.

1982 saw the introduction of the instantly recognisable checkerboard pattern. This became an icon overnight, and is still regarded as stand out feature of the iconic Vans Silhouette.
